one question

Because I'm Japanese, I have no problem to play or read Japanese games and comics.
But , I have an one question that ; how do you enjoy Japanese contents...　in no translation? You all may be able to read Japanese?
I wonder you won't enjoy enough if you can't understand the texts.... am I too worry?

I can read all the Japanese charaters. So at first I can guess English words from katakana. The second I can read some basic words in Japanese. The third I can read Kanji in the sentences so I can guess more. With these I could know part or most meaning of sentences.

Also there are some translation assistant tools like AGTH or ITH, they could do a crappy translation but they're probably a big helper for those who almost can't read Japanese.

Ero stuff would not have translations in many cases. But it may not be important to read many ero stuff clearly, they just need a reason to fuck.

And sometimes, fantasy is good. e.g. I listened some foreign language songs but not knowing what the singer songs. After checking the lyric I was a little dispointed, it's nothing special at all! So not knowing the things clearly may be not bad.

A little off-topic:

In the old times, when I was young, I had begun playing Japanese games, same as many other Chinese video game players.

Can't recall the first non-action game I played clearly, maybe it is Fire Emblem the first game. Even it is in Japanese, I and my classmates could play it without problems cause we have a Chinese walkthrough book. The book is released by a bootleg publisher and it is rough, but it explains the commands in the game and have some notes for each stage. So the player would know the game quickly and probably beat it. If the cassette was without the book, it can't be sold well, definitely.

I probably didn't know the story clearly, but I knew what I want to do: Go to the destination, kick some ass. Then go to the next destination, kick some ass again... It's enjoyable. Sounds a little stupid? But it is true for a child. I beat some non-action game include some RPGs, but DQ and FF on Famicom were never popular at that time cause they are a little complex. In the later consoles Kanji is possible to display in texts so it's possible to guess the meaning of a sentence.

Sometimes there would be some translated games. They are very good. I played FF6 Chinese version and Shenmue English version years ago and they impressed me a lot. It would be a waste playing them without understanding the story or just follow the walkthrough (walkthrough just teachs you to beat the game in most cases).

It's pretty lucky to have that much Japanese ero games. Cause we can understand the basic meaning through the kanji at least ！

I just depend on my feeling or read the English version

I tried to learn Japanese as a third language but failed.
Maybe I should turn to another European language
but I do think japanese is the most beautiful language to listen (TO Listen), from my angle as a linguist student.

Actually, I'm not so good at English and Chinese... however, managing to try to communicate to YOU!! just YOU(in front of PC monitor)!
How hard to get ability of commanding other languages... but challenging!

Although I can not read those comics and understand their means, the pictures can make me pleased as well.
I can just use my sight to see it and feel it in my heart. But I could try my best to use my own understanding to catch it on.

lol legit I'd rather play a translated version of a certain galgame cuz if it is in Japanese which I could not completely understand, the joy of it behalves. Texts are as impotant as the cgs, in my opinion.

I'm more curious about how you ended up here in a Chinese forum. Did Google lead you here when you're looking for eroge resource?

I've learn a bit Japanese myself but never quite manage to keep it on. I'm still somewhere between N5-N4 level I guess. But surprisingly I can pretty much understand 80% of erotic audio works (音声) without having even to read the script. A lot of Japanese phrases simply sound very familiar to me, as a result of having been watching anime for years. Most of them doesn't have any complicated sentences expressing complicated ideas because they're just porn, and the "story" pretty much follow the same set of tropes, so the language is far more accessible than a regular movie or a book. And it does help to know English and Chinese because a lot of Japanese nouns are either from English or kanji. Kanji are often pronounced like a Chinese dialect when it's onyomi, so they are easily memorisable.

Incidentally, usually the more kanji is in a text, the harder it is for a native Japanese to read. But for a Chinese who's learning Japanese, the reverse is true. Reading Japanese news is much easier than following what Japanese people say on Twitter.
